About

When it comes to the Epik High’s and lows of (the) Seoul, you never know what you’re going to get.

My story:

A Korean-American residing in Seattle, WA for more than 15 years; gloriously returns to her homeland in Summer of ’07. The reasons are many. Financially seeking to pay off college loans, spiritually searching for a purpose in life, physically looking for new adventures/challenges, and primarily wanting to learn more about her Korean hemisphere.

“Like many of us, I guess I could label my situation as in limbo, to mean: grounded on personality, satisfied educationally, but unsure of my career path and what the future has in store.”

Happily she trots on. But in time, she experiences a plethora of sweet and sour experiences which leads her into a little bit of a pickle.

“I struggle to relate to many Korean views and in retrospect am beginning to banish those ‘proud to be an American,’ ideologies. One that I struggle with the most is the lack of feminist movements towards equality. When women are obviously in a country that is all about the betterment or servitude of man; they don’t seem to understand or even care. On the other hand, I’ve learned that the US isn’t always the best. There, it is socially acceptable to be overweight and not take into account their actions or responsibilities. Our actions and those of the President are plastered in the news 24/7, yet we tend to make the same mistakes over and over again…so why do we think we are better than everyone else? Why did I think this way, too?”

In spite of all the questions never to be answered, she decides to stay in Korea for as long as tolerable, and bring them to light for your viewing pleasure.

Here, you can read about the vast adventures she experiences, what she has learned along the way, as well as basic information you should know before ever fathoming the idea of following in her footsteps.
